The event features a free pre-dinner tour of the Exploreum’s science of chocolate exhibit, a complimentary signature cocktail reception and a seated five-course meal featuring experimental menu items, live entertainment and a communal dining experience presented by Stephen McCary, a New Orleans chef.

A southern gentleman from the Heart of Dixie, Stephen McCary brings his Birmingham hospitality to Dinner Lab New Orleans as its new resident chef. After giving the pre-med track a go at Auburn University, he decided to pursue his childhood dream of working in the culinary world. Stephen attended Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, South Carolina where he studied Culinary Arts. After a few years of working in Charleston’s top restaurants, Stephen moved back to Birmingham, his hometown. He worked under award-winning Chef Chris Hastings at Birmingham’s Hot and Hot Fish Club. Stephen then travelled west to Colorado, where he lived for seven years and worked as the Executive Chef for one of Denver’s finest restaurants, Mizuna. After landing his gig with Dinner Lab, Stephen packed up and settled in the Big Easy. He adores the New Orleans culture and has had the goal of living there since he was a child. He would love for his diners to know that he wants to continue to grow, meet people all over the city and saturate himself in its culture.
